New Housing Units Permitted

The US Census Bureau recently released new housing unit permit numbers for September 2016. This edition of the newsletter compares the last three years of housing units permitted, specifically through the first nine months of each year.

The table below has the number of new housing units permitted monthly for this year.

September has seen the most units permitted year-to-date, with a total of 2,233 units permitted citywide. This brings the total number of units to 11,266 for the year.

Manhattan recorded the most units permitted this month with 987, followed by Queens with 587, Brooklyn with 400, the Bronx with 223 and Staten Island with 36.
