East Village


The East Village spans from Houston Street to 14th Street between the East River and 4th Avenue, within it are several smaller neighborhoods, including Alphabet City, St. Mark’s Place, and The Bowery which are all extremely culture rich. It is the birthplace of artistic movements such as the Punk Rock and in 1994; the neighborhood was portrayed in the musical Rent.


The East Village is known for its nightlife and bars like the city’s oldest Irish tavern McSorley's Old Ale House and Pete Taverns where Abraham Lincoln visited after giving his famous Cooper Union address in 1860.


Real estate tend to be mostly walk-ups or shared large coops that are ideal for students, young artists and budget sensitive New Yorkers.
