Little Italy

In the late 1800’s there was a surge in Italian immigration to America and the area known, as Little Italy became sanctuary for Italian tradition, community who arrived on Ellis Island then onto the lower central East part of the city.

This 2-3-blocks neighborhood has been consistently shrinking over the years as new wave of immigrants replaced the older ones. Chinatown is seriously encroaching to the South, but also newer trendy sub-neighborhoods such as NoLita are scouting all the valuable real estate retails in this prime area of the City.

New Yorkers and tourists alike still flock for the delicious cannoli at Ferrara Bakery & Café or to see the annual Feast of San Gennaro festival, which is held every September.
