Roosevelt Island is a small island that lies in between Manhattan and Queens. A short 4 min Tram ride is sure to impress anyone (hop-on at the corner of 3rd Ave. and 59th street) and elevate yourself over the East river. Historically, this was a veteran’s island and in the 1970’s several coops saw the light of day. Recently the island welcomed both the Cornel Medical group and the Luxury Rental firm Related group who co-developed luxurious apartments, condominium and prime waterfront properties.
The views of Midtown, the United Nation headquarters, the Upper East Side, the East River and Long Island city are all breathtaking. Sundrenched in light, with lots of parks, it’s own high school, middle school and several day cares – this island is a heaven in the city. The 9000 or so residents enjoy an Olympic swimming pool, some of the largest tennis facilities in the entire State of New York as well as prime waterfront running lane, a large parking garage, and several historical landmark such as Octagon and the Roosevelt Memorial.
In 2017, the new Cornell Medical campus will open in grand fanfare and is sure to bring a strong rental market. The F subway line is 1 stop from Lexington and 59th on the Manhattan side or a 3 stop ride to Rockefeller Center. Astoria, with a Costco supercenter, is 2 minutes by Ubber or Taxi, and Dittmars historical Greek rich neighborhood is a few minutes further.
