The name SoHo stands for "South of Houston Street".
It was as an industrial and manufacturing district. Today, it is one of New York City's most desired neighborhoods. The area is known for its loft apartments, fine dining, designer stores, cast-iron architecture, and cobblestoned streets.
It is one of the few areas where one can find "live and work" space space where dual use is legal. This is usually the perfect location for artists, or work-from-home entrepreneurs that need the space and convenience to combine a workspace within their personal environment.
The neighborhood has many high-end shopping venues, with many European and international retailers present. An array of small bakeries and coffees shops "glaze" perfectly this oh so sweet neighborhood such as Ladurée on West Broadway or Francois Payard on W. Houston.
