Sutton Place is a neighborhood that starts from 53rd to 59th Street between First Avenue and the East River. It’s a peaceful and refined residential enclave in the Midtown East section of Manhattan. The neighborhood is filled with gorgeous brownstones and pre-war buildings and is home to many diplomats and politicians.
There are many antique and furniture shops that border the Western side of 1st Avenue all the way to 2nd and into the adjacent streets of 58th and 59th streets.
Plenty of small restaurants, eccentric pubs and gastro joints can be found. A large WholeFood supermarket is conveniently located on 57th and 2nd Ave. And covered Tennis courts under the white bubble dome below the Queens borough bridge offer some of the best courts in the city.
