The Washington Heights neighborhood is usually referred by residents as “The Heights,” in the Upper Manhattan side of New York. It is bordered to the South by Harlem at 155th Street and to the North by Inwood at Hillside Avenue. The area is an active urban zone with and suburban feel. The area has plenty of low-rise buildings and pre-war highrises. But some sections have detached single-family homes and brownstones.
It is an ideal area for prospective investors who can wait for future capital gains in a still relatively affordable part of town.
On the epicurean side of things, the neighborhood has seen an arrival of great new restaurants and Cafés such as Indian Road Café opened in 2008, in a former bodega at the northernmost tip of Manhattan overlooking Inwood Hill Park. Another one of our favorite is Café Buunni on Pinehurst, which offers organic fair-trade coffee from Ethiopia.
